Daniela Castaldo is professor of Musicology at the University of Salento (Lecce-Italy). She received her PhD in classical archaeology from the University of Lausanne-Switzerland (2000) and since 2002 has been teaching various musicological disciplines at the University of Salento where she has beencoordinator of the degree programs in Cultural Heritage and Music and Performing Arts (2015-2025). Her research fields include music archaeology of classical world, the reception of ancient music in visual arts from the Renaissance to the 19th century, music iconography. She wrote several articles for scientific journals and books chapters on these topics. She is currently serving on the editorial board of the scholarly journal Music in Art: International Journal for Music Iconography and on the scientific board of the Association Répertoire International dIconographie Musicale (RIdIM). She is president of MOISA. The International Society for the Study of the Greek and Roman Music and its Cultural Heritage. She is involved in the French-Italian research project Repertorium Instrumentorum Musicorum Antiquorum (RIMAnt) and in the new digital version of the Dizionario Enciclopedico Universale della Musica e dei Musicisti (DEUMM Online) of which she Co-General editor.
