To further advance talent cultivation in the field of cultural heritage conservation and restoration and to deepen collaboration between museums and universities, a delegation from the NWU–Salento School of Cultural Heritage and Arts visited the Shaanxi Academy of Archaeology on October 31 for an enterprise visit and exchange meeting. The delegation was led by WANG Baohong, Secretary of the CPC Party Committee of the School. Participants from the Shaanxi Academy of Archaeology included ZHONG Jianrong, Director; ZHANG Gaike, Deputy Director; LI Jianxi, Chief Engineer; MA Zhenzhen and ZHANG Yaxu, Deputy Directors of the Conservation Science and Technology Research Division; YANG Liping, Director of the Scientific Research and Planning Office; and ZHAO Haichen, Deputy Director of the Information and Publicity Department. From the NWU–Salento School of Cultural Heritage and Arts, attendees included YANG Lu, Dean; LIU Yuan, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Party Committee of the School; WANG Guodong, Deputy Dean; and WANG Jinghan, Secretary of Teaching Affairs.
The meeting began with mutual introductions of participants from both sides. On behalf of the School, WANG Baohong expressed sincere gratitude to the Shaanxi Academy of Archaeology for its long-term support. He gave a detailed introduction to the School’s educational philosophy, academic structure, and distinctive Sino-Italian cooperative model, emphasizing that talent cultivation is a systematic endeavor requiring joint participation from both university faculty and industry experts.
YANG Lu elaborated on the School’s development process, teaching management system, talent cultivation model, graduate employment, and internship practices. He highlighted that the School places great importance on fostering students’ international perspectives, interdisciplinary innovation, and practical abilities for employment. He expressed the hope that this exchange would further strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and museum–university cooperation, inviting more industry experts to participate deeply in talent cultivation and jointly promote high-quality development in cultural heritage conservation education.
ZHONG Jianrong highly commended the School’s efforts to integrate high-quality resources and cultivate internationally oriented talents in cultural heritage conservation, noting that the School’s development plays a significant role in promoting and passing on outstanding traditional Chinese culture. He warmly welcomed students from the School to undertake internships and practical training at the Shaanxi Academy of Archaeology. He also outlined specific requirements for internships: first, students should maintain a rigorous and diligent attitude and devote themselves wholeheartedly to archaeological and conservation work; second, supervising teachers must fulfill their duties conscientiously, ensuring fairness and standardization in guidance and assessment. He also provided detailed advice regarding internship assignments and professional skill development.
During the meeting, both sides conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as the formulation of student internship programs and mechanisms for joint supervision of graduation theses, reaching a number of cooperation agreements.
After the meeting, LI Jianxi guided the delegation on a field visit to the Key Laboratory for On-Site Archaeological Conservation of Cultural Relics at the Shaanxi Academy of Archaeology, where he introduced the laboratory’s research platform, technical facilities, and recent research achievements.
